Distillery 162 has officially landed on Australian shores — and what a start it has with not one, but two casks. This new-world Highland distillery achieved its first distillation in 2017, and now, in 2025, we’re releasing this four-year-old single-cask, cask-strength expression matured entirely in a 1st fill ex-chinkapin oak barrel (a type of American white oak cask); expect some freshly caught fish with some zest, roasted peanuts, and a bit of sarsaparilla sweetness. Don’t miss this opportunity to own bottlings from some of the early casks of this new distillery.
A sea breeze whistled through the sweetie shop, imparting its maritime story on to honeycomb, butterscotch toffees, candied fennel seeds and roasted peanuts. The palate echoed the nose, while adding sarsaparilla and mace to kippers and fruit pastilles. Water supplemented herbaceous thyme and sage on the nose, to be joined by barbecued lime and seaweed. The palate finished with teriyaki chicken and chocolate biscuits.
