Every year, the five Scotch Whisky regions celebrate the spirit of their own flavours. The Society is uniquely positioned to be able to celebrate all five regions at once; but as Scotch Whisky evolves, we at the SMWS have to ask: do the regions really matter? There’s only one way to find out!
For the Brisbane Festivals experience this year, your local Ambassador Scott Mansfield has something a little different and incredibly fun planned! DRAW & DRAM! You’ll be tasting a 2026 SMWS Festivals release from each region (plus the five-region blended malt, of course) and sketching what you taste. How do you do that? Literally however you want — you can draw something that reminds you of the flavours, the aromas; they don’t even have to be anything in particular. The aim is not to create a masterpiece, but to just express how the whisky makes you feel or what it reminds you of.
The six drams and drawing experience will be accompanied by shared lunch platters at Common Vice — Sunday 18th of August at 2pm, try a selection of the Festivals bottlings and get creative with fellow Society members!
When? Sunday the 16th of August 2026, 2:00pm arrival for a 2:30pm start.
Where? Common Vice; 2/75 Welsby St, New Farm QLD 4005.
Members are welcome to bring guests at member prices. Non-members are also welcome to attend and learn more about the Society.
