SUMMARY:Wollongong Dramming: New Flavour Profile Launch
DESCRIPTION:Wollongong\, be the first in the country to try the new eight Flavour Profiles alongside a three-course dinner.\nThe time is finally here. For almost a decade\, the Society’s 12 flavour profiles have influenced the way our members interact with our spirit. Now we see a shift from 12 to 8\, a simplification of flavour to further inform and assist how you interact with society spirit. \nJoin us in Wollongong in April as your local ambassador Fred Apolloni guides you through these new eight flavour profiles over a curated three course of dinner at Centro Bar and Restaurant. Guests will be treated to eight drams\, one of each of the new profiles\, and learn about why the changes made\, whilst discovering first-hand what they are. \nIn tandem\, this will also be an opportunity to view the newly-designed ‘Signature’ range of Society bottles. These will be replacing ‘Core’ bottlings with some minor\, yet crucial\, design changes. \nYour ticket includes eight SMWS drams\, one of each of the new flavour profiles\, and a three course dinner\, alongside fellow society members\, and friends. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a wonderful\, entertaining and tasty evening of whisky discovery and appreciation as we explore a wide and diverse range of very special single malts from all corners of the land — in fact\, it’s The Grand Tour of Scotland!\nWe’ll embark on a virtual tour around Scotland\, visiting five of the whisky regions and enjoying a fantastic line up of sensational single-cask\, cask-strength\, single malts — each one chosen to represent its region and a unique Scotch style or flavour profile. In between each dram\, we’ll discuss and learn a bit about Scotch whisky; its history\, traditions\, how it’s made\, and how the Scots make so many different-tasting styles of whisky from just three\, simple ingredients. \nYour host for the evening is the Society’s Chairman\, Andrew Derbidge; one of the country’s most knowledgeable and entertaining presenters with over 25 years in the industry. He’s personally picked out five Society malt whiskies\, including casks from our latest shipment to feature for this event. This event will appeal to all lovers of Scotch whisky — from beginners to experts\, there’ll be something for everyone; some delicious spirit; a wee bit of education; and a lot of laughs. \nYour ticket includes a welcome drink\, 5x curated Society drams\, and a two-course dinner\, all whilst enjoying the warm hospitality of P.J O’Brien’s private space. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen? SUMMARY:At the Chef's Table: Franz Scheurer x Lennox Hastie
DESCRIPTION:Franz Scheurer\, the internationally-acclaimed maestro of matching food to whisky\, returns for yet another SMWS Whisky Dinner\, this time teaming up with none other than Lennox Hastie of both Firedoor and Gildas fame (as well as the Netflix series\, Chef’s Table).\nGildas\, Lennox’s second restaurant in Sydney\, opened in 2022 and earned a Chef’s Hat in its first year. Basque-inspired cuisine from his time in Spain\, it was awarded Two Hats for 2026. Franz and Lennox — two mates in the kitchen from way back — have worked to put a sensational menu together\, combining Lennox’s exceptional cooking\, Franz’s knack for the match\, and curation of our full-flavoured Society whiskies. \nSome members will be familiar with the remarkable flavour pairings that await as they are true pairings\, adopting Franz’s 1+1=3 principle. Four Society whiskies\, a welcome drink\, and paired courses await at this fine-dining experience for the flavour explorer. Limited seats available. \n\n\n\n\n  \nWhen?
