DESCRIPTION:Join us for an incredible tasting of Society cask strength drams versus a commercial classic\, all with an exploration of differing sherry styles that have lent their influence to the flavour profile of the spirit. \nWhisky = water plus barley plus yeast\, with distillers’ skill and careful maturation in wood. The wood matters\, as does its previous uses. \nWith an explosion of wood conditioned ‘expressions’ in the retail market\, it is worthwhile recalling the traditional whisky styles and the ‘classics’ of flavour\, many of which are based on maturation in sherry casks. Sherry is often seen as the ‘forgotten apertif’\, not exactly fashionable\, yet delightful in its own right. \nCome along and explore with us on this flavour adventure. We will have light nibbles\, friendly faces\, new chums\, those starting their whisky journey and aficionados too\, all at the stunning Deck at Regatta Point. Bring friends along for a flavour discovery and enjoy Canberra’s wonderful autumn water views. Plus I have been test driving some delicious sherries for inclusion in the evening.
