DESCRIPTION:A lavish feast to celebrate our branch’s Anniversary\nYour State Managers for Victoria (that’s correct\, plural) invite members to a very special event celebrating the history of the SMWS in Victoria\, as part of our Australia-wide 20th Anniversary Celebrations. \nAs your current State Ambassador\, I have recruited the help of some familiar faces to take guests on a journey from the first-ever meeting of Australian (and Victorian) members overseen by Chris Barnes\, through the tenure of the estimable Owen Smythe\, to the end of a two-decade period for the antipodean branch of the Society. \nEach presenter will talk about the Society under their stewardship over a wonderful meal prepared by the team at Chancery Lane\, and showcase not just the 20th Anniversary bottlings\, but some other much loved historical releases. \n \n  \n\nWhen? Saturday the 22nd of October\, 12:15pm arrival for a 12:30pm start.\nWhere? Chancery Lane\, 430 Little Collins Street\, Melbourne VIC 3000\n  \nThis event is exclusively available to members of The Society only\, partners and guests are welcome to attend. Guests are asked to adhere to a smart casual dress code\, or fancy dress.

DESCRIPTION:2002: Andre Tammes & John Rourke started something in Australia that would forever change the landscape of whisky appreciation forever.\nThey brought the world’s leading whisky club\, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society\, to Australia. They toured around the country with a bag of whisky and gauged interest to see whether or not Australians would truly want these rare and delicious malts. \nThe resounding answer was a yes! So\, the plan was hatched to start the branch and bring the full Society experience to Australia. \nCome join in at Tasmania’s premier Partner Bar\, the New Sydney Hotel\, as we celebrate the 20th year of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society being Down Under in ‘Straya. To mark the special occasion\, we have three incredible Aussie exclusive bottlings for the anniversary which will feature in the line-up! \nEnjoy a two-course meal as your Tasmanian State Ambassador\, Tom Rofe\, and special guest Victorian State Ambassador\, Alex Moores (who is a proud Tasmanian\, by the way)\, lead you and your friends through a five-dram SMWS line-up that is not to be missed. \n  \nWhen? Saturday 8th of October 2022 — 6:00pm arrival for a 6:30pm start.\nWhere? New Sydney Hotel\, 87 Bathurst St\, Hobart\, TAS 7000\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is open to all members\, friends\, guests and non-members!
