SUMMARY:New Flavour Profiles Live in Canberra
DESCRIPTION:It’s eight shades of autumn this coming May with a first-hand\, in-person look at the brand new eight Flavour Profiles from The Scotch Malt Whisky Society!\nThe time is finally here. For almost a decade\, the Society’s 12 flavour profiles have influenced the way our members interact with our spirit. Now we see a shift from 12 to 8\, a simplification of flavour to further inform and assist how you interact with society spirit. A flavour evolution! \nJoin us at the Royal Canberra Gold Club for an evening of pure flavour discovery\, where you’ll have the opportunity to taste a Society dram from each of the new profiles\, and write your own notes! Drams will be accompanied by a melange of tasty canapés and charcuterie with your lively State Ambassador Drew McKinnie leading the charge. \nIn tandem\, this will also be an opportunity to view the newly-designed ‘Signature’ range of Society bottles. These will be replacing ‘Core’ bottlings with some minor\, yet crucial\, design changes as you’ll see. We’re really excited to be bringing these evolved flavours to you! \nWhen? Wednesday the 27th of May 2026\, 6:00pm arrival for a 6:30pm start.\nWhere? Royal Canberra Golf Club; 71 Bentham St\, Yarralumla ACT 2600.\n  \nMembers are welcome to bring guests at member prices. Non-members are also welcome to attend and learn more about the Society. \n  \nPlease note that there is a strict dress code that will need to be adhered to for this venue: \nNo jeans. Join us at The National Press Club as Matt and your local Ambassador Drew McKinnie guide you through a formal seated whisky-tasting experience as some rare\, new and delicious drams are explored. Here we celebrate our reunion with old friends\, and the discovery of new friends\, our wonderful partners\, our love of exceptional drams and good times. \nGuests can expect six unique single-cask\, cask-strength Society drams along with grazing platters and canapés\, all presented by National Branch Director Matt Bailey. What’s eight for? It’s EIGHT degrees of single cask satisfaction!\nAll you need to know in Eight Steps: \n1. When and where: Wednesday 14th November at The Deck\, Barrine Drive\, Parkes\, arguably Canberra’s most pictureque venue.\n2. EIGHT Society whiskies being featured (and\, in some cases\, never before showcased in Australia).\n3. The first EIGHT members to place an order on the night will receive a free miniature sample bottle of SMWS whisky.\n4. $88 for Members\, Partners and their Guests\, $108 for General Admission / Non-Members.\n5. Strictly limited to 48 people – so Canberrans\, don’t leave it until the last minute\, book in now to avoid disappointment!\n6. The format will be our ever-popular “Steps” style tasting. You will receive six tasting tokens – simply choose whichever six whiskies you’d like to taste\, in whatever order and pace you wish.\n7. Meet and chat with our amazing team of ACT Society Ambassadors who will be manning a stand and pouring out drams on the night.\n8.
