SUMMARY:Whisky & Beer with Dr Chuck Hahn and the Malt Shovel Brewery
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a tantalising evening as we return to the Malt Shovel Brewery\, the home of James Squire beers\, and also the home of two previous (and now legendary) SMWS Beer & Whisky evenings from years past!\nWe will again be joined by the wonderful Dr Chuck Hahn (who will be coming out of retirement for this event)\, and hear his wisdom on all things to do with brewing\, beer\, malt\, and the connection to whisky. We’ll be matching four SMWS whiskies with four beers from the James Squire and/or Hahn portfolio\, together with food matches to…pizza! \nIt is difficult to imagine a single person having a greater impact on Australia’s beer scene than the New York-born Dr Chuck Hahn. No other brewer in Australia has had quite the tour de force on the shape of Australian beer quite like Chuck has. \nBrewing and educating audiences on beer and how to taste and appreciate it for 30+ years in Australia\, if you’ve ever had any Hahn\, Kosciuszko\, Little Creatures\, Steinlager\, or James Squire before\, you’ve tasted something that Chuck has had a hand in crafting. \nAfter 50+ years in brewing\, Dr Hahn has been formally retired but is coming out of retirement for the SMWS and this one special night at his old stomping ground\, the Malt Shovel Brewery in Camperdown. Along with Andrew Derbidge\, Chuck will be pairing up single-cask whiskies and special local beers for an evening of boilermakers\, brewing and pizza not to be forgotten \nOur evening will begin with welcome drinks and casual tours of the brewery from 5pm onwards\, and we’ll be pouring the drams from 6pm to allow enough time for folks to make it to the venue…so don’t fret if you can’t get off work early! \n  \nWhen? Thursday\, 9th of May 2024 — 5:00pm arrival\, 6pm start.\nWhere? The Malt Shovel Brewery\, 99 Pyrmont Bridge Road\, Camperdown NSW 2050.\n \n \n  \nPlease note that owing to the nature of the evening and the facilities at the brewery (which is not set up for food catering)\, it will unfortunately prove difficult to accommodate dietary requests or alternatives.
