DESCRIPTION:Celebrating 30 Years of SMWS Japan Branch!\n\n\nIn 2022\, the Australia branch celebrated 20 years of SMWS\, and this year we’re celebrating 40 years globally\, but in between all that\, it’s also the 30th birthday of SMWS Japan this year! Founded in 1993\, SMWS Japan’s 30th birthday is this year\, so we’re hosting a very special one-off birthday celebration tasting. We’ve secured one bottle of each of the three birthday celebratory releases\, and we’re sharing them around with you\, along with some other surprises and goodies on the night. \nThese super rare releases were exclusive to SMWS Japan\, so we’re very lucky to be the only other country on Earth to share these with members. On the night\, we’ll start with a Society highball\, then taste through the SMWS Japan exclusives\, plus other special SMWS casks that complement the lineup\, along with a traditional Japanese supper. Places for this event are strictly limited and are first in best dressed\, this event is available for members only. Come celebrate SMWS Japan on Thursday 26 October\, 7pm start. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen? Thursday 26th of October 2023 — 6:30pm arrival for a 7:00pm start.\nWhere? This one-day experience at Bar Lafayette is a chance to open the door to the Society\, discover full-flavoured whisky\, and take a journey in our own Vaults for the day.\nEach ticket includes entry to the members bar\, a welcome dram of whisky on arrival\, plus a serve of food from the curated menu. DESCRIPTION:Happy new year! \nWhat a year ahead we have planned for Society members\, including this extremely momentous occasion launching the next chapter for Whisky & Alement with their Melbourne Whisky Room upstairs.  You heard right: situated directly above Whisky & Alement is the latest dedicated whisky bar in Melbourne and a truly wonderful Society space. It is both welcoming and exciting for Society members and their guests and is part of the Whisky & Alement family. \nGroup tastings\, table service\, an Old & Rare section and the feature SMWS Archive Cabinet which will be regularly pillaged for special events. An exciting move for this long-standing Society Partner Bar! And an intimate space for dramming on single cask\, cask strength pours from the Society. Over time we anticipate this will offer members the widest range of single casks available by the dram in the Southern Hemisphere! \nCome along on Wednesday 15th Feb from 6:30pm for an entirely exclusive members night. This will be a whole-venue takeover to celebrate the new Society space for members\, enjoy 6 x drams\, light food\, and explore the bar afterwards.
