He’s personally picked out five Society malt whiskies\, including casks from our latest shipment to feature for this event. This event will appeal to all lovers of Scotch whisky — from beginners to experts\, there’ll be something for everyone; some delicious spirit; a wee bit of education; and a lot of laughs. \nYour ticket includes a welcome drink\, 5x curated Society drams\, and a two-course dinner\, all whilst enjoying the warm hospitality of P.J O’Brien’s private space. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen? DESCRIPTION:The Grand Tour of Speyside hits the road!\nThe newest inductee to the Keepers of the Quaich is proudly hosting his first SMWS event for the year\, in Melbourne! \nJoin Andrew Derbidge for what will easily be one of the most focused\, detailed\, and informative whisky masterclasses ever presented in Australia as we embark on a grand tour of Speyside and the River Spey. \nWe’ll explore the region in depth\, looking not just at distilleries\, but at the region’s geography\, history\, people\, science\, and place in the whisky industry. We’ll also present a wee Speyside travel guide (where to stay\, wine\, and dine!)\, and\, of course\, we’ll be exploring and tasting five diverse whiskies from five very unique Speyside distilleries encompassing five different flavour profiles; four different cask types; and age statement releases including an 8yo\, 9yo\, 12yo\, 16yo\, and 29yo. How’s that for a spread? \nOn the night we’ll enjoy a light supper\, whisky\, entertainment\, education\, giveaways\, and a presentation like no other. \nA classic evening in the lovely surrounds of the Kelvin Club with our Chairman and NSW State Ambassador at large\, Andrew Derbidge. \n  \nWhen? DESCRIPTION:2002: Andre Tammes & John Rourke started something in Australia that would forever change the landscape of whisky appreciation forever.\nThey brought the world’s leading whisky club\, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society\, to Australia. They toured around the country with a bag of whisky and gauged interest to see whether or not Australians would truly want these rare and delicious malts. \nThe resounding answer was a yes! So\, the plan was hatched to start the branch and bring the full Society experience to Australia. \nIn 2012 we celebrated our 10th anniversary of the branch\, and in 2017\, our 15th anniversary.
