You only have to open the news to know that\, but what you might not know is that American whiskey is changing. The diversity of flavour coming out from the land of the free has been evolving\, and growing\, and The Society has been at the forefront of working with American distilleries in selecting and bottling some of these amazing single casks. \nThis will be the first Australian appearance of some of the newest codes to join The SMWS\, including a new prefix CW for ‘Corn whiskey’. This year\, Krsna has outdone himself by incorporating his flavours into a new chocolate “snack bar” format for the upcoming SMWS tasting. \nKrsna will return to Melbourne alongside your local State Ambassador Alex Moores to host the Perfect Pairings tasting at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. Five unique Society single-cask drams (three whiskies\, an Armagnac\, and a Cognac) paired with five handmade chocolate “snack bars” from Krsna himself; this is it\, the ultimate chocolate and whisky pairing — the perfect pairings. DESCRIPTION:The Scotch Whisky Festivals are a time for celebrating the great uisge beatha (water of life) that we enjoy; to celebrate locally\, we’re bringing our hugely successful afternoon festival back to the Kelvin Club for a second year!\nFor 2025\, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is hosting the Whisky Wanderers festival\, our iteration of the popular Scotch Whisky Festivals in which each Scotch region celebrates their history and flavour. This year\, the SMWS has produced multiple cask-strength expressions to celebrate the Whisky Wanderers festival\, and Australia is receiving 14x of them! All 14 casks will be on pour for this festival hosted at our beloved Partner Venue — The Kelvin Club — encompassing two floors of flavour and entertainment. \nTickets include unlimited pours of the 14x new 2025 Whisky Wanderer bottlings\, canapés\, and the option to add on complimentary micro masterclass sessions. We’ll have several whisky stations set up and guests can visit each to taste the drams on offer\, with canapés roaming during this cocktail-style event. DESCRIPTION:We’re back with our good friends at Addicted to Audio in Melbourne for another round of Music & Malts — but with a twist!\nYou asked\, we listened\, and here we are. For our third collaboration event with the hi-fi giants\, we’ll be putting a larger emphasis on the systems themselves\, playing more of what you want to hear across three distinct spaces (with two different whiskies being poured in each room). Generous canapés and six drams are included in your ticket. \nFor those new to this format\, Addicted to Audio are a high-end audio space and store in Richmond whose love for music and high-fidelity audio rivals our passion for full-flavoured\, cask-strength whisky. We split up into groups and roam between each of their dedicated listening rooms enjoying drams and exquisite audio systems. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a wonderful\, entertaining and tasty evening of whisky discovery and appreciation as we explore a wide and diverse range of very special single malts from all corners of the land — in fact\, it’s The Grand Tour of Scotland!\nWe’ll embark on a virtual tour around Scotland\, visiting five of the whisky regions and enjoying a fantastic line up of sensational single-cask\, cask-strength\, single malts — each one chosen to represent its region and a unique Scotch style or flavour profile. In between each dram\, we’ll discuss and learn a bit about Scotch whisky; its history\, traditions\, how it’s made\, and how the Scots make so many different-tasting styles of whisky from just three\, simple ingredients. \nYour host for the evening is the Society’s Chairman\, Andrew Derbidge; one of the country’s most knowledgeable and entertaining presenters with over 25 years in the industry. He’s personally picked out five Society malt whiskies\, including casks from our latest shipment to feature for this event. This event will appeal to all lovers of Scotch whisky — from beginners to experts\, there’ll be something for everyone; some delicious spirit; a wee bit of education; and a lot of laughs. \nYour ticket includes a welcome drink\, 5x curated Society drams\, and a two-course dinner\, all whilst enjoying the warm hospitality of P.J O’Brien’s private space. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen?
