DESCRIPTION:FESTIVE STEPS Sydney Whisky Party!\nSydney rejoice\, it’s time for a whisky party! We’ve had a huge year at the Society and to see 2018 out for our last big bash for the year\, come join us on Friday night\, 30th November 2018\, at the Royal Automobile Club for our FESTIVE STEPS Whisky Party! Here’s how it works:\n1. Friday 30th November in the Macquarie Room at the Royal Automobile Club\, 89 Macquarie St.\n2. Twelve new Society casks being featured\, many of them never before seen in Sydney (and\, in some cases\, never before showcased in Australia).\n3. The first eight members to place an order on the night will receive a free 30ml official sample bottle of SMWS whisky.\n4. $88 for Members\, Partners & Guests\, $108 for non-members.\n5. Strictly limited to just 88 people.\n6. The format will be our ever-popular “STEPS” style tasting. Attendees will receive seven tasting tokens – simply choose whichever seven whiskies or spirits you want to redeem them against\, in whatever order and pace as you wish. There will be a welcome dram on arrival\, which will then make up eight drams per person on the night.\n7. Meet and chat with our regular team of Society Ambassadors who will be manning a stand and pouring out drams on the night.\n8. Canape supper will be provided\, together with lots of water\, fun\, humour\, conviviality\, and that great atmosphere that only a Society tasting can provide. 6.30pm for a 6.45pm start.\n\n\nBook in\, bring a friend\, come celebrate the year that was with the leading whisky club in Australia! \nFriday 30th November\, 6:30pm\, Royal Automobile Club

DESCRIPTION:Put three tasty things together\, plus a whole venue to ourselves\, and you have a proper collaboration in boilermaking like none other seen before!\nIn collaboration with Wayward Brewing and Shiso Fine\, the Society is proud to announce we’re dialling up our summer boilermaker sessions to eleven. Wayward Brewing is giving us the brewery for the night to pair up 6 x delicious beers with our cask strength\, single cask whiskies\, while Shiso Fine are making handmade Japanese cuisine for us fresh on the night on the spot. Fresh beer from the tap\, fresh Japanese snacks\, fresh single casks direct from The Society’s Vaults of Leith\, all on location at the brewery. \nAn event truly not-t0-be-missed with beers you’ll have never tasted\, whiskies you’ve never seen\, and delicious Japanese food to boot. DESCRIPTION:When it comes to whisky dinners and the art of matching food to whisky\, there is only one person to turn to: Franz Scheurer.\nThe guru who defined and wrote the book on food and whisky matching and has been behind Australia’s most legendary whisky dinners for the last 15 years returns to team up with the Society once more. \n“The Maestro Returns” will see Franz work and collaborate with Brent Savage and his chefs from the entire Bentley Group – that’s Bentley Restaurant & Bar\, Cirrus Dining\, Monopole and Yellow – and prepare a five-course menu with each dish brilliantly matched to a unique Society whisky. Franz works on the principle of 1 + 1 = 3\, meaning that the food will add something to the whisky\, and the whisky will add something to the food. It’s the culinary experience of something being greater than the sum of its parts\, and members who’ve enjoyed our Society Whisky Dinners with Franz in the past (e.g. with Tetsuya\, Neil Perry\, Darren Robertson\, Alessandro Pavoni\, etc.) should move quickly – we have space for 25 diners only. \nThis event is 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. Join Andrew Derbidge for what will easily be one of the most focussed\, detailed\, and informative whisky masterclasses ever presented in Australia as we embark on a grand tour of Speyside and the River Spey.  \nWe’ll explore the region in depth\, looking not just at distilleries\, but at the region’s geography\, its history\, its people\, its science\, and its place in the whisky industry.  We’ll also present a wee Speyside travel guide (where to stay\, wine\, and dine!)\, and – of course – we’ll be exploring and tasting five diverse whiskies from five very unique Speyside distilleries that encompass five different Flavour Profiles; four different cask types; and age statement releases comprising a 8yo\, 11yo\, 13yo\, 16yo\, and 31yo.  How’s that for a spread?\nA classic evening in the Royal Automobile Club with our Cellarmaster and NSW State Manager\, Andrew Derbidge. \nFriday 4th September\, 6:30pm welcome dram for 7pm start.
