The SMWS is the leading whisky club worldwide and is internationally recognised as the flavour-leaders in many awards each year celebrating our dedication to quality and our members.

The Society was honoured to receive the Whisky Magazine’s Independent Bottler of the Year award in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019. World Whisky Awards in 2022, and the New York International Spirits Competition 2024 Independent Bottler of the Year.

The Society was established in Edinburgh in 1983 and now has more than 42,000+ members around the world with branches in 33 countries - including Australia.
