DESCRIPTION:Join us for a very special and exclusive SMWS x Ardbeg celebration: an intimate evening with Dr Bill Lumsden\, the Director of Whisky Creation at Ardbeg.\nArdbeg Day is a special day in the malt whisky calendar when whisky lovers from across the world gather to celebrate Islay’s most iconic distillery. Though Ardbeg Day falls on May 30th this year\, some belated celebrations are taking place in Sydney on Saturday June 6th. Notwithstanding the official celebration earlier in the day\, we have something EXCEPTIONALLY SPECIAL in store for our members later that evening… \nWe’ll be joined by none other than Dr Bill Lumsden himself\, direct from Islay for this intimate\, members-only evening. No other evening worldwide will showcase this level of detail to the story and spirit of this incredible Islay distillery\, with a lineup to be truly in awe of. Our friends at Ardbeg are bringing an inimitable selection to the table (nothing younger than 18 years old!)\, while we’ll be pulling out some legendary selections from Distillery 33 that we locked away in the archive vault many years ago for just an occasion like this. \nExpect old and remarkable whisky to be shared with stories direct from Scotland\, brought to you for one night only in Sydney. Do not miss this moment to connect with your fellow members and one of the rarer Society distillery codes in play. \nIt’s an intimate audience with one of the truly great whisky personalities\, experts\, entertainers\, and whisky makers of our time\, presented by the world’s leading whisky club\, in the surrounds of the Royal Automobile Club of Australia. It’s a match made in heaven! \nDue to the strictly limited nature of the spirit being poured\, and the ethos of this experience\, this is strictly an SMWS members-only event on a first-come\, first-served basis. \n  \nWhen? Saturday the 6th of June 2026\, 7:00pm arrival.\nWhere? DESCRIPTION:Adelaide — it’s time to gather in person and enjoy all eight new Flavour Profiles at Seven Stars Hotel this coming June with your new local Ambassador\, Nirmal Menon!\nFor almost a decade\, the Society’s 12 flavour profiles have influenced the way our members interact with our spirit. Now we see a shift from 12 to 8\, a simplification of flavour to further inform and assist how you interact with society spirit. A flavour evolution! \nJoin us at the familiar Seven Stars Hotel on Wednesday\, June 17\, for a two-course dinner alongside eight Society drams — one from each of the new profiles — where you’ll be able to also write your own tasting notes! An opportunity to get up close and personal with each of the new profiles and really find your own flavour. \nIn tandem\, we’ll also be exploring the newly-designed ‘Signature’ range of Society bottles. These will be replacing ‘Core’ bottlings with some minor\, yet crucial\, design changes as you’ll see. We’re really excited to be bringing these evolved flavours to you! \n \n\nWhen? Wednesday the 17th of June 2026\, 6:30pm arrival for a 7:00pm start.\nWhere? Seven Stars Hotel; 186/187 Angas St\, Adelaide SA 5000.\n  \nMembers are welcome to bring guests at member prices. DESCRIPTION:Our beloved SMWS mini-festival returns for another year at the RACA where 18 different SMWS Festival Creators Collection bottlings will be tasted and enjoyed in an open format: welcome to Festivals season!\nEvery year\, the five Scotch Whisky regions celebrate the spirit of their own flavours. The Society is uniquely positioned to be able to celebrate all five regions at once; but as Scotch Whisky evolves\, we at the Society have to ask: do the regions really matter? There’s only one way to find out! Join as at The Royal Automobile Club of Australia on Saturday the 1st of August for a full afternoon of festival fun! \nWe will have a spacious and elegant private room with several stands throughout\, each with whiskies from their own regions for you to try at your leisure\, along with plentiful roaming canapés. What’s on pour? We don’t want to give too much away just yet\, but we can ensure you we’ll have: \n  \n\n1x five region blend (an evolution of last year’s incredibly popular Wandering Alchemy)\n1x Campbeltown malt\n2x Lowland malts\n4x Speyside malts\n4x Highland malts\n6x Islay malts\n\n \n  \nPlus\, the return of the Whisky & Alement rare Islay bar with co-owner Julian White serving some classic and rare whisky from Fèis Ìle experiences of the past\, plus some other rare goodies.
