In keeping with July’s theme of celebrating artistry\, the primary focus of the evening will be on the delicate way the canapés are created\, whilst still maintaining their delicious allure. \nEach ticket includes a seven-course canapé tasting experience\, six SMWS single-cask malts\, and a welcome drink on arrival. \n  \nWhen? We’ve had a huge year at the Society and to see 2018 out for our last big bash for the year\, come join us on Friday night\, 30th November 2018\, at the Royal Automobile Club for our FESTIVE STEPS Whisky Party! Here’s how it works:\n1. Friday 30th November in the Macquarie Room at the Royal Automobile Club\, 89 Macquarie St.\n2. Twelve new Society casks being featured\, many of them never before seen in Sydney (and\, in some cases\, never before showcased in Australia).\n3. The first eight members to place an order on the night will receive a free 30ml official sample bottle of SMWS whisky.\n4. $88 for Members\, Partners & Guests\, $108 for non-members.\n5. Strictly limited to just 88 people.\n6. The format will be our ever-popular “STEPS” style tasting. Attendees will receive seven tasting tokens – simply choose whichever seven whiskies or spirits you want to redeem them against\, in whatever order and pace as you wish. There will be a welcome dram on arrival\, which will then make up eight drams per person on the night.\n7. Meet and chat with our regular team of Society Ambassadors who will be manning a stand and pouring out drams on the night.\n8. What’s eight for? It’s EIGHT degrees of single cask satisfaction!\nAll you need to know in Eight Steps: \n1. When and where: Wednesday 14th November at The Deck\, Barrine Drive\, Parkes\, arguably Canberra’s most pictureque venue.\n2. EIGHT Society whiskies being featured (and\, in some cases\, never before showcased in Australia).\n3. The first EIGHT members to place an order on the night will receive a free miniature sample bottle of SMWS whisky.\n4. $88 for Members\, Partners and their Guests\, $108 for General Admission / Non-Members.\n5. Strictly limited to 48 people – so Canberrans\, don’t leave it until the last minute\, book in now to avoid disappointment!\n6. The format will be our ever-popular “Steps” style tasting. You will receive six tasting tokens – simply choose whichever six whiskies you’d like to taste\, in whatever order and pace you wish.\n7. Meet and chat with our amazing team of ACT Society Ambassadors who will be manning a stand and pouring out drams on the night.\n8. DESCRIPTION:Happy new year! \nWhat a year ahead we have planned for Society members\, including this extremely momentous occasion launching the next chapter for Whisky & Alement with their Melbourne Whisky Room upstairs.  You heard right: situated directly above Whisky & Alement is the latest dedicated whisky bar in Melbourne and a truly wonderful Society space. It is both welcoming and exciting for Society members and their guests and is part of the Whisky & Alement family. \nGroup tastings\, table service\, an Old & Rare section and the feature SMWS Archive Cabinet which will be regularly pillaged for special events. An exciting move for this long-standing Society Partner Bar! And an intimate space for dramming on single cask\, cask strength pours from the Society. Over time we anticipate this will offer members the widest range of single casks available by the dram in the Southern Hemisphere! \nCome along on Wednesday 15th Feb from 6:30pm for an entirely exclusive members night. This will be a whole-venue takeover to celebrate the new Society space for members\, enjoy 6 x drams\, light food\, and explore the bar afterwards. DESCRIPTION:The Festive Season is upon us\, the weather is warming up\, and we’ve put together an absolutely unique once-in-a-lifetime tasting to celebrate. \nStarward Whisky Distillery\, whom you might know for their accessible and affordable Starward single malt\, has moved their entire distillery from Essendon Fields to Port Melbourne as they ramp up production and expand as a distillery. As a special treat for SMWS members\, we’ve secured a special preview night to come and see the new distillery\, take in a tour of the facilities\, and taste three Starward expressions (Solera\, Wine Cask\, and a New World Projects limited release). As if that’s not enough\, we’ll also taste three rather old and very rare single casks from the Society ranging from 18 to 38 years of age.
