DESCRIPTION:Happy new year! \nWhat a year ahead we have planned for Society members\, including this extremely momentous occasion launching the next chapter for Whisky & Alement with their Melbourne Whisky Room upstairs.  You heard right: situated directly above Whisky & Alement is the latest dedicated whisky bar in Melbourne and a truly wonderful Society space. It is both welcoming and exciting for Society members and their guests and is part of the Whisky & Alement family. \nGroup tastings\, table service\, an Old & Rare section and the feature SMWS Archive Cabinet which will be regularly pillaged for special events. An exciting move for this long-standing Society Partner Bar! And an intimate space for dramming on single cask\, cask strength pours from the Society. Over time we anticipate this will offer members the widest range of single casks available by the dram in the Southern Hemisphere! \nCome along on Tuesday 14th Feb from 6:30pm for an entirely exclusive members night. This will be a whole-venue takeover to celebrate the new Society space for members\, enjoy 6 x drams\, light food\, and explore the bar afterwards. Only 28 spaces available\, so it’s first in\, best dressed! The offerings lined up promise more unique whisky delights than you can poke a stick at! \nIn Adelaide\, Mad March approaches rapidly\, so we decided your spirits (both literally and metaphorically) may need to be bolstered. So we are inviting you to share an indulgent insight into some rather rare and special whiskies in the SMWS cellar for 2017. \nYou want flavour? We’ve got it. You want rarity? We’ve got it. You want convivial company? We’ve got that in abundance. You want an escape to green rolling hills with dusky slopes of fragrant heather and hairy coos grazing? We’ve got that too! And if you fancy a challenge\, then maybe rugged coasts\, a large salmon fighting your line\, a breathless scrabble to the rocky summit of a Munro and the reek of peat smoke are more to your liking? Our whiskies offer that too. \nBut maybe you just want to savour a dram or two with some dark chocolate from the comfort of your favourite chair\, before heading out into the Adelaide streets for Mad March activities? \nWhatever your plans\, just book your seat for our next Whisky tasting on Friday 17 February\, 2017 at the Public Schools Club.
