The Oak Barrel officially joins the Australian Malt Whisky Tasting Championship as ‘Single Cask’ Sponsor
The Oak Barrel is Sydney’s leading independent bottle shop. Founded in 1956 they boast over 60 years of service and regular masterclasses around wine, beer and spirits. For the sixth consecutive time, the Oak Barrel are proudly joining the AMWTC hosted by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as single cask sponsor and experiential partner.
The Australian Malt Whisky Tasting Championship takes place on Saturday 25th July 2020 and is held only once every two years. An exciting whisky event and party, it holds the crown as the biggest whisky tasting experience in Australia. Each competitor sits down and has thirty minutes to nose, taste, and guess which whiskies are which in front of them. Eight whiskies, nine on the answer form, one red herring, and some incredible prizes to be won on the night. On being involved again as a key sponsor and supporter, spirits expert and host Scott Fitzsimons says “We’re over the moon to be a part of the whisky champs again in 2020. This is a landmark year for the SMWS, for us, and for the industry as a whole.”
The AMWTC is proud to be supported by The Oak Barrel again in 2020, to celebrate 30 years of the Whisky Champs in Australia. To support this, the Oak Barrel will be an integral part of the prizes on offer, and a special ‘Guess the whisky’ event to be announced shortly.
