From the team

Hands up how many of you have had a candlelit dinner in a Citroen 2CV? No? No one? Not surprised. The very Society-esque name aside, please join me in welcoming Distillery A6 to Aussie shores all the way from Bas Armagnac. This ’89 vintage is wonderfully syrupy on the nose but surprisingly savoury on the palate — not in a Spicy & Dry type of savoury, but more of an aniseed and oily tobacco way. We debuted this dram a couple of months ago at a small SCS Melbourne event and it was hugely popular — don’t miss this opportunity to snag a cask-strength Armagnac (and a .1, no less) at this incredible price!

Tasting Panel notes

An intense initial aroma of polished hardwood, exotic spices, prune syrups and manuka honey gives way to tertiary notes of muscovado sugar, brown bread, long-aged Chateau d’Yquem and even hints passion fruit and dried mango. Becomes increasingly luscious and exotic with time and air. Water brings out bittermints, milk chocolate, praline and an abundance of orange oils, satsuma peel and citrus essences – almost pithy in fact. The palate is a concentrated morass of brown sugars, old agricole rhums and cocktail bitters. Notes of pumpernickel bread, cedar wood, pipe tobacco, linseed oil, camphor and expensive liquorice. With reduction there’s dried cranberry, aged Pinot Noir, cola cubes and incense.
